Sunday August 17-Day 49- Rest Day in Grand Rapids
Day 7: My day started early as Mom, Dad, Uncle Fred, Aunt Alice, Uncle John, Aunt Janet and I all went to an 8:45 service at a CRC close to their house so we would have time to enjoy some lunch before going to our Celebration Service at Fifth Third Ballpark. My cousinsTyler and Katie VanDoeselaar joined us for lunch as their parents were gone on vacation.
To Fifth Third we went, getting there about 1:45 for a 3:00 service. Waiting again, but at least we had shade in the outfield where we could wait. The cyclists walked in from the third and first base lines for the opening of the service. Shane Claiborne was the main speaker and his words on poverty and our response to it. Those are some words we need to remember.

After the celebration service, it was back to Calvin so Aunt Janet wouldn’t need to bring me back to Calvin so early in the morning. Mom and my aunts got a tour of the gear truck and were quite intrigued.
I set up my tent in the midst of some of the new cyclists who look exactly like I felt just one short week ago-bewildered and overwhelmed! Tomorrow begins week two on the road, a week that brings me back to beloved Ontario!
